Severance pay and entitlements.
Being laid off is a painful experience, as no one wishes to be dismissed from their job unexpectedly. However, if such an unforeseen situation occurs, don’t panic. At the very least, employees are entitled to severance pay under labor law. The longer the length of service, the higher the compensation, as follows:
  • If an employee has worked for less than 120 days, the employer is not required to pay severance.
  • If an employee has worked continuously for at least 120 days but less than 1 year, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 30 days of wages at the final rate.
  • If an employee has worked for 1 to 3 years, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 90 days of wages at the final rate.
  • If an employee has worked for 3 to 6 years, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 180 days of wages at the final rate.
  • If an employee has worked for 6 to 10 years, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 240 days of wages at the final rate.
  • If an employee has worked for 10 to 20 years, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 300 days of wages at the final rate.
  • If an employee has worked for 20 years or more, the employer must pay severance equivalent to 400 days of wages at the final rate.

Social Security Benefits for Unemployment
If terminated
Compensation is received for a maximum of 180 days per year, at a rate of 50% of the wage, with a maximum base salary of 15,000 baht.

Resignation or termination of employment contract
Compensation is received for a maximum of 90 days per year, at a rate of 30% of the wage, with a salary base not exceeding 15,000 baht.
