Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
It is stipulated that organizations or agencies, whether private or public, that collect personal data of individuals must not use such personal data without the individual’s consent.
The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), enacted in 2019, is a new law designed to address the growing issue of personal data breaches. Such breaches often involve the unauthorized buying and selling of personal information, including phone numbers, and are commonly experienced through unsolicited calls and scams.
This law will be fully enforced on June 1, 2022. It is a law that protects personal information such as name, address, phone number, photo, bank account, email, Line ID, website user account, fingerprint, health history, etc. This information can identify the owner of that information. It may be in the form of documents, paper, books or stored electronically.
